Douglas William Mair was the producer for the 1953 BBC adaptation of The Sad Story of Henry. He was also credited as the producer for shows such as The Rufty Tufty Stories, and as a special effects technician on programmes such as In the Town Tonight.

According to an interview with Yvonne Littlewood, Mair invented "the forerunner of teleprompters" for the BBC.

Douglas Mair retired from the BBC in 1970 and died the following year in Middlesex, England at the age of 61.
